OK let's not get into the "What does it even mean to 'publish' a thing?" argument this time...

I'm really happy to see that our manuscript "An intensive longitudinal dataset of in-game player behaviour and well-being in PowerWash Simulator" is through peer-review and out in a scientific journal with the editor's blessing.

As Buckheit and Donoho put it:

"An article about computational science in a scientific publication is not the scholarship itself, it is merely advertising of the scholarship."

I feel like creating, curating, and sharing a rich resource like a dataset, without any restrictions, is an act of open science in the true spirit of the quote above. The paper here really does very little apart from advertise the dataset that is available, with a CC0 license, on the Open Science Framework.

(I wanted to put a picture of John Lennon here but that was just a preposterous idea. Shame on me.)
